— Visiting Zurich —

June 30, 2009 – Last week you met Akari, a Great Dane we met on the street in Zurich, Switzerland. Zurich is such a wonderful city; I wish we could have spent a bit more time there. Maybe next year.

Meanwhile, here are some views I found particularly enjoyable. As you'll see, the weather was mostly overcast with intermittent showers but I find a dynamic "cloudscape" much more interesting (and easier to shoot under) than a brilliant blue sky:

Zurich's skyline

A street scene

Edelweiss – for sale!

Grossmünster Church, viewed from the Limmat River

The Grossmünster and Wasserkirche (Water Church)

One boat with a missing tarp became the nesting site of an (overly?) assertive waterfowl.
The nest, constructed of large sticks, filled the entire back end of the waterlogged boat.

Another street scene. Woof!

A pot of flowers, as seen on our way up to Lindenhof Square

Young lovers at Lindenhof Square, the highest spot in "old town" Zurich

A view from the top

A chess game at Lindenhof Square, just one of several

Another view from the top

On the way down

Near the bottom

A wicker bicycle!!! Wow, that's pretty neat...

...and here's the back end

A tourist, or a resident? Your guess is as good as mine.

More to follow, but for now – as Porky Pig would say – "That's all, folks!"
