We got about 22 inches of the lovely white stuff in Sunapee, New Hampshire. My almost 7-year-old black Dane, Sara, frolicked for a while. Since she's recovering from surgery following a ruptured ACL , I was keeping a close eye on her to make sure she didn't overdo it or worse, slip and fall. But it was good to see her almost back to her old self.

I live in central PA and we got about 8" -- not too bad, it's manageable. My harl (who turns 6 today) and my black love the snow when it first falls, the harl runs around like a puppy. She looks a lot like the one in the picture. The black loves to dig her nose in the snow and eat it and loves to catch snowballs thrown in her mouth. Now the snow has a crust to it and now they don't like it, I'm assuming it hurts their feet. I know have to go out with them to make sure they do their business.

Out here in Central California we haven't gotten any snow but had ice on the bird bath and hard frost on the ground (and wind machines going like mad in the citrus groves). Claire, 2-year-old merle female, takes Ben and Bagger out for inspired zoomies where she'll run, build up speed then squat down and sliiiiiiiiide on the icy grass, usually crashing into one of the other two. Angus, our old mantle, hangs back until the rest of the crew has cleared a patch. He virtually tippy-toes out to do his business then races back into the house to warm his toes in front of the fire. I'm hoping to take Claire up into the mountains this winter for an intro to snow. We'll let Angus keep the home fires burning...

Sadly, no snow or anything here in North Texas. The beautiful picture of the harl in the cold woods brings back many memories! As a young girl my first Dane was a harl bitch and I took her in the New England winter woods all the time to play. Sure inspired a trip down memory lane for this born Yankee!

another California here, no snow but pretty darn cold for us. Moses, my 5 year old black male hates the rain. He'll "hold it" as long as possible before racing through his doggy door, out the backyard like a shot, then races back in and straight for the floor heater. Unless of course there happens to be a squirrel in the trees then he forgets how much he hates the rain!

We live in Rockland County, New York, about 20 miles North of New York City. We got about 12 inches or snow, not counting the snow drifts. Our two blacks love the snow, they run around like fools in the white stuff. Otis, our two year old, likes to scoop it up in his mouth as he walks. He looks so goofy with with a snow mustache. Hannah, our 6 year old acts just like a puppy in the snow. We have to keep an eye on her that her arthritic joints don't get chilled. They love they snow just as much as we do!

I live in The Netherlands, we had our first snow back in october (that is not normal, and we haven't had any since). My little Rose (6 month old Harle) didn't know what to do, eat it, play in it, or run inside because it was cold and wet. Too bad we didn't have more time for play or pictures, I am looking forward to the winter! :)
P.S. The Harle on the pic looks a lot like Rose, except for the cropped ears...

Our 1yr old brindle was a scream! We got approx 12" of snow...he took off to run around, tripped, fell and did a face plant right up to his waist!! He did not get hurt...he just keeps eating the snow. He also doesn't like to go out to do his 'business'...he holds it as long as he can.

We live in Southern Maine and got about 20 inches of snow!! Franklin our 2 year old fawn loves to romp in the snow, he is an extremely fast runner and leaves a snow dust trail behind him. Frank is amazingly graceful and prances easily through three foot snow drifts as I struggle to keep up on my snow shoes:) The only bad part about the snow and ice are the wipe-outs!! But after a few crash and burns he is starting to figure out his stopping times!!!

Here in Ocean County, NJ, we only got about 4 1/2 inches. Akira, our 8 y.o. black, tolerates it, while Zero, 4 y.o. harl, loves to play in it. Both enjoy trying to catch snow balls in their mouths or being "downwind" of the snowblower.

Hi Ginnie. I live in Springfield, MA and have a 6 month old Fawn dog named Zeke. This was his first snow fall. I believe we got 14 inches. Zeke thought it was a real blast to fly through this fluffy white stuff in "his" backyard. He would burrow his nose into it and then flip some up in the air so he could snap it between his teeth. My husband and I had fun watching Zeke enjoy the first snow of the season.

I live in Western Maine. We got about 2 feet of snow. It was Kisha's (9 month Fawn) 1st snow. She love it!! When she got into a snow drift she would bounce on all fours - she looked like a deer bounding along. She also likes to stick her whole face in the snow bank and when she comes out she has white on her wiskers and eyebrows. She looks almost like a Santa.

Our 11 month old blue male, Loki, slides without meaning to in the 2 inches we got, then gave up and sat on teh top step of the porch, and calmly ate the snow on the railing. Then he stood up, with rear feet on the porch floor, and front feet three stpas down, and ate the snow on the bottom step! Great view for us inside!

hi ginnie, another central pa family here. we had 10 inches of snow from the storm. aurora (21 month black)absolutely loved being out in it. so much so that it was a real chore to get her to come back in!
i think she was trying to smell every individual flake that fell! (in between her running full tilt through the yard)

The snow that arrived on Dec 6 is mostly gone now in central Connecticut. This is bothersome to my little boy, Duncan. How he loves to eat the newly fallen snow; the piled up snow from the snowblower; the ice from the edges of the cleared deck; the last patch of crusty, dirty snow in the yard..... I wish I could let him enjoy it more, but with the shivering afterward (despite his fleece) and the constant need to be let out I have to limit his intake to a reasonable amount. He is motivated, however, to find it whenever he can.

Duncan is my first Great Dane and my biggest source of joy every single day.

I just got my first dane. She is 9 weeks old and a merle. It started snowing the night I got her and at first she didn't like it. She is a different puppy 3 days later, she loves it and will play until she gets cold and then she wants in and she wants in NOW!!! I think she is a nut.

Hello from Rochester, NY. I loved (!!!) watching my Dane puppy enjoy the winter weather that hit today. The older dogs trudge out in it wishing for a nice spring day, but they younger gang flies out the door full of excitement. Nothing is better than enjoying this fun with them.

Hi there from Frederick, MD. We got around 8 inches or so - not to bad for this area. Our dane is just 11 weeks old and he did not know what to think. In fact, the housebreaking was a tad bit harder considering....

We were living in Iowa when our dane, Phineas, experienced his first snow. He was still a puppy and went bounding down the steps to get outside. Suddenly, recognizing something was different, he stopped. He picked up his front left paw, looked at it, then put it down. He picked up his front right paw, looked at it then put it down. He repeated this process until he'd examined all four paws, then looked back at my husband with an expression that clearly said "Dad! What the hell did you do to the yard?"
