Enjoy your trip. Think of me when you stop in Korea---I was stationed up in Waegwan, which is 20kms north of Taegu (which is an hour from the port of Pusan, where you'll probably stop). I know Pusan well, too, but it's been all of 17 years since I left Korea.

Talk to you soon.

Wow how exciting, I can hardly wait for a selection of your fantastic photos, but who is watching Merlin?

Michelle Moss @ 10:37AM | Jun 14th 2004

Oh how I envy you! When I was in college I looked into Semester at Sea, but I let the expense (and my boyfriend at the time) keep me homebound. What an awesome experience it would've been. At least I married the boyfriend. Have a wonderful time!

Your trip sounds fantastic, but my first thought was "what about Merlin?"

you will have a wonderful time. I went to Asia (Singapore) for the first time last year and loved it. Yes, I want to know who is watching Merlin!!

Ginnie,

How fantastic! Have a safe and enjoyable trip. Might I suggest, a series of geology photos?? Being a dane lover/owner AND geologist...well I can't imagine anything better than combining the two. In fact, my harl girl was often my field assistant in grad school. What fun we had!!

Take care and enjoy the all ports o' call! =)

Paula @ 4:41PM | Jun 14th 2004

Ginnie has asked me to thank everyone for their comments and concern about Merlin, and let you know that he is in the most capable of hands. He is spending the summer with his vet who has cared for him all of his life, her husband and their geriatric labrador retreiver, Belle. He went a week ahead of Ginnie’s departure so that he could get acclimated and Ginnie could help iron out any problems (which was not necessary). He settled right in, and is like a kid at summer camp. He is going for long walks in the neighborhood, swimming in the lake at their lake house on weekends, and sleeping with them in their bedroom. So while Ginnie is sailing the high seas, Merlin is at summer camp and loving every minute of it. The best part is that Ginnie doesn’t have to worry about the level of care he is getting, or that if Merlin becomes seriously ill, he will get the best possible care and treatment.

Whew! As the mom of a "seasoned" Dane I, too, was worried about Merlin. Now I have to make sure Angus doesn't hear about Merlin's summer vacation or I'll never hear the end of it! Wishing you safe and shining seas, Ginnie. Can't wait to see the photos.

Have a great time Ginnie!!! Maybe you could have Merlin's caretakers send you .jpg files to incorporate into your away photos...so we can enjoy his vacation too...LOL!!!

Have a GREAT time - I'm SO jealous. What a wonderful opportunity. I wish I could be there, too, or at least sent to summer camp with Merlin as it sounds like he's going to have a great time as well :o)

Ginnie has asked me to post once again and let everyone know they are having a great time on the ship - but internet service is not yet available. As soon as it is, she will be putting up a new DaDane. The IT team on the ship is working feverishly to get service established for the faculty and students.

ok, details details....I'm sure you have better things to do but we are waiting to hear about what you have been up to. So glad to hear Merlin is enjoying the summer as well. The only time we have left Moses is for 10 days to Hawaii and he stayed with his trainer and had a wonderful time. It is so good to know your dog is well taken care of if you need to leave for any length of time. ENJOY

WowGinnie!
Rich Elmer and I hope you both have a wonderful time! What a great opportunity! We look forward to hearing about and seeing images from your adventure. And Elmer is curious that there is even such a place as "camp"! Now he wants to go! Have a great trip!

Ginnie, What an incredible opportunity for you and your family! A visit to ANY of those destinations qualifies as a trip-of-a-lifetime. And what an honor for your husband to be offered a faculty position in not one, but two disciplines.

And Hoo-Rah for Merlin! Puttin' on the Ritz! But that's not surprising. The love you have for Danes is exhibit week after week through your devotion to DaDane of the Week. Why should anyone think that would not be so for Merlin. (Perhaps Merlin was actually a stow-away and will be seen somewhere in....oh, China perhaps?) Have an awesome time!
