"American Tourists" In addition to all their suitcases, Americans carry extra baggage when they go overseas. The reputation of the "American Tourist" is legend. American tourists are quickly identified by the resident population. Indeed, even Americans can recognize other American tourists a mile away. During our recent visit to Australia we spotted this typical couple. They were waiting for the Magnetic Island ferryboat, which was 15 minutes late.
